Massachusetts North Shore Fishing:  Gloucester south to Boston

Well it's nice to get the cover off and splash the vessel

This first week of fishing this spring has produced to good to great
results:

COD
The cod are in heavy just east of the breakwater about 2.5 miles out.
We caught about a dozed 15 to 25 inch beauties.  We were dropping clam
and worm rigs in about 120 feet of water.  Let it hit the bottom reel up
about 3-4 feet.  You should get a hit ever time.

STRIPERS
The stripers are in - small schoolies all around 19 inches - up in the
Danvers river.  We were pulling spinning gear with worms through the
moorings in Danvers Harbor.  A few good hits 3-fish boated and released
within about 3 hrs.  Be careful not to get the fish twisted around the
empty moorings.

MACKEREL
Now for real story!  Holy mackerel - there here!!!!!!  We landed over
200 fish - 4 on gig every time.  Out at half way rock where the bottom
drops to 150 feet about 75 yards off the rock.  As the mackerel school
up and swim freely around the rock.  They are down about 15 to 20 ft.
Just drop a bright mackerel jig yank about 2 times and you'll get 4 on a
gig.
